“One of Santenay’s emerging talents.” – Wine Advocate
As well as finding you the classics, we enjoy unearthing the new up-and-coming winemakers. And David Moreau is definitely one to watch. Having worked at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Château de Beaucastel and Olivier Lamy, he has now taken over a small part of his father’s domaine and is producing sustainably farmed wines that just get better and better with each passing vintage.
Santenay Cuvée “S” comes from a one-hectare plot called Les Cornières, which was the first to be owned by David’s grandparents. Located in the middle of the village, these old vines suffer from millerandage – bunches with grapes of differing size and low yield. As a result, their small berries are super concentrated with dazzling fruit flavours. The 2017 vintage is a delicate and fresh one, but the richness and density are ramped up in this wine. With its dark profile of blackcurrant, black cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, blueberry, liquorice and spice, this is a great wine for cold nights, dark meats and peppery flavours. Enjoy this full-bodied Pinot Noir from now until 2030.
