2019 VINTAGE Heavy spring rains enriched the soils and delayed bud break by a few weeks. A heat spike in June, followed by warm weather, brought even verasion throughout the vineyards. A cooling trend and touch of rain in mid-September created ideal conditions for the 2019 harvest which is considered a near-perfect vintage. CONVERSATIONS WITH THE WINEMAKER The grapes for this 2019 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon were harvested from vineyards across Napa Valley including those planted in our Rutherford and St. Helena estates as well as valley floor and hillside AVAs including Howell Mountain, Atlas Peak and Spring Mountain which provide the wine with good structure. Picked in the early morning hours to maintain freshness between August 30 and September 21, the grapes went through extended maceration. The wine was aged for 19 months in 35% new French oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered. WINE PROFILE Welcoming red fruit aromas waft from the glass in this 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Waves of red currants and plum sauce roll across the palate with notes of red licorice and spice-dusted blackberry fruit flavors. Full-bodied with fine-grained tannins, the finish has a hint of caramel and lingers.
